Business Development Manager

Key duties and responsibilities of the position include:

New Business Development

  • Prospect for new clients to increase full-service lease and commercial rental business
  • Sales calls as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization
  • Research and set up meetings with client decision-makers
  • Build relationships with prospective clients
  • Identify client performance requirements
  • Structure solutions/services to address client performance requirements
  • Participate in pricing the solutions/services
  • Plan approaches and pitches
  • Negotiate proposals, overcome objectives, create new accounts

Client Retention

  • Manage long-term relationships with existing customers
  • Present new products and services to enhance Penske’s value proposition
  • Utilise all internal resources to enhance Penske’s value proposition
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs/updates

Business Development Planning

  • Present to and consult with management on fleet growth requirements
  • Work with management on budget planning
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Monitor competitors and compile data on pricing, spec offerings, and sales strategies/activity

Rental Team Interaction

  • Respond to inbound inquiries and deliver quotes for short-term rental business
  • Work with Rental Managers to uncover upsell (rental-to-lease) opportunities
  • Occasionally assist/backup Rental Managers

Fleet Mechanic

Primary Objective: Service, repair, and maintain the Penske Rental and Leasing Fleet

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled servicing and light repair of rental and lease vehicles as required
  • Maintain fleet to a high aesthetic appearance by washing, cleaning, and detailing
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements
  • Diagnose, repair, and implement strategies to maximise fleet availability while controlling costs
  • Coordinate and prioritise workload with rental team
  • Manage small stock of parts inventory
  • Occasional relocation of trucks to/from local service providers and rental offices
  • Keep workshop in a clean, tidy state at all times
  • Promote a safety-first culture that supports continuous HSE improvement

Qualifications:

  • Completion of appropriate trade qualification, preferably mechanical trade certificate
  • Valid HR (or higher) commercial driver’s license
  • Previous experience with Detroit, MAN, and/or Hino trucks preferred

Team Interaction

  • Work with Rental Managers to prioritize jobs and maximise fleet uptime
  • Interact directly with National Fleet Manager for training, advice, and feedback
  • Occasionally assist/backup Rental Managers

Sales & Rental Operations Management Trainee

In this developmental role, you will receive 5 weeks of personalized training and be coached by managers and peers who started in the same position. We will introduce you to our sales processes, leading edge technology, and winning company culture through one-on-one, small group and web-based methods.

Initially responsible for customer and client service, sales, administration, and general operational duties, your responsibilities will grow with the business, with the view to operations management of your own branch or a role that concentrates in sales.

Regardless of experience or university major, close to 100% of our upper-level leadership and sales executives began their careers in a Sales/Management Trainee position. We strongly believe in promoting from within and offer an attractive compensation program to match your career growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Business or Marketing preferred
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Internship or related work experience in a customer facing role preferred
  • Results oriented, attention to detail, and good time management skills
  • A valid driver’s license is required
